Faculty Development Grant Program

HISTORY

The FDGP was developed as a result of survey of the University faculty who expressed a desire to develop their scholarly work. The first Faculty Conference on Scholarly Writing was held on November 15-16, 2011. Immediately following the conference, the University Administration made a tangible commitment to continue to encourage and incentivized the scholarly work of the faculty and the FDGP was funded. In its inaugural year, nine grants were awarded for a total of $4000, culminating with the first annual 2012 Faculty Research Symposium at the Committee of 100, McKee B&T Building on April 23, 2013.

PURPOSE

The Faculty Development Grant Program (FDGP) provides seed money for research, teaching, and service-related projects designed:

  • To assist with the development of research/scholarly activity
  • To enhance the effectiveness of individual faculty members.
The FDGP supports those activities that lead to professional growth in teaching and research through increased scholarly writing. These activities may include support to generate preliminary data, analysis of data, or synthesis of the literature that will form the basis of a scholarly publication.
This year’s activities will include a number of workshops on various topics (i.e. Abstracts, Research Literature, Narrative/Design, etc.) and will culminate with the Annual Faculty Research Symposium.
ELIGIBILITY

The grant is for all disciplines. All full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty of the University are encouraged to apply
